Description

Welcome to Week 4 of Changing by Choice. In the last few lessons we have learned about climate impacts and climate action all around the world and considered ways our faith helps us think about the need for climate action. We have wondered about the ways the Christian call to generosity and care for creation motivate us to work for climate action as a way to love our neighbors around the world. And we have heard from experts on everything from agriculture to theology who have invited us to meet this important moment with action and hope.

This week we will consider which traditions, histories, and practices from our faith communities teach us to live in greater harmony with nature. Faith leaders like Sister Jayanti of India, Rev. Eugene Cho of the US, and Patience Nabukalu of Uganda remind us of the call for humans to care for creation found in the Hebrew Bible. Climate advocate Harjeet Singh offers thoughts on the Sikh perspective on integrating faith with care for the environment. And Rev. Christina Cosby, of the Presbyterian Church (USA) speaks about the power of interfaith dialogue and collaborative work for climate justice.

After watching the video, use the discussion questions provided to explore this week's Global Ethical Stocktake question, "What traditions, histories, or practices from your community teach us to live in greater harmony with nature?" Then look at the COP lesson to learn more about how the multilateral negotiation process helps us learn from indigenous communities and our neighbors from the global south.
