TEXAS INTERFAITH POWER & LIGHT

Texas Interfaith Power & Light inspires and mobilizes people of faith and conscience to take bold and just action on climate change.

TEXAS FAITH VOTES

Voting is at the core of all civic participation. Texas Impact encourages people of faith and all Texans to participate in all elections. In 2021, the Texas Legislature made major changes to Texas election laws. These laws could make it harder for some eligible Texans to vote, and they could make it harder or scarier for some Texans to volunteer to work the polls. It’s more important than ever to be an election mobilizer—casting your own vote is great, and it’s even better when you help make the system work for all of us.

COURTS AND PORTS

Courts & Ports is a 2-day immersion experience designed to build understanding of the many challenges facing migrants and public servants at the Texas-Mexico border. The project builds on work Texas Impact has been doing for years with faith communities across the state in building bridges between direct action and policy advocacy. Bearing witness to the current situation on the border helps equip people of faith from across Texas for potent advocacy for just immigration policies. Through interactions with policy experts; law enforcement officials; volunteers; and asylum seekers, participants gain perspective on the unique constellation of policy, logistical, and humanitarian issues in play.

FAITH IN DEMOCRACY

This publication is a handbook for state-level public policy advocacy in Texas. It is designed for use in faith communities, but the information in it is useful for any would-be advocate.

The handbook includes background on how faith and advocacy are related; what our faith traditions tell us about public policy; how the legislative process works in Texas; and how Texans can advocate for policies they care about. It is not specific to a particular policy issue, and it is completely nonpartisan.
