On November 4, the Trump Administration notified the United Nations of U.S. intention to leave the Paris Agreement. Withdrawing from the agreement takes a year, meaning the U.S. could exit the Paris Agreement as soon as Nov. 4, 2020 — one day after the election and a week before countries are supposed to announce their new or enhanced commitments at the annual UN climate conference.
A retreat from the Paris Agreement would isolate the U.S. as other countries move forward, damaging our credibility and disadvantaging our economy. According to the Yale Climate Communication Project, more than three-quarters (77%) of registered voters support continued U.S. participation in the Paris Climate Agreement, including almost all Democrats (92%), three in four Independents (75%), and a majority of Republicans (60%).

Congress needs to step in and assert legislative authority over the situation while there is still time to for a course correction.
