The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency finalized a rule in December 2023 that would drastically cut methane emissions from the oil and gas industry. That is great news for the climate and for Texans.
Now it is time for Texas to help implement the new rule and require our oil and gas industry to cut their emissions.
A strong state implementation plan would ensure Texas oil and gas operators stop emitting methane that causes air pollution and worsens climate change. Read more about the methane rule and the state implementation plan here.
These regulations are a common sense way to clean up climate-harming and air-polluting methane emissions.
