As Texas Impact’s Network Development Manager, I have the privilege of interacting with our members across Texas. During these conversations, I get the opportunity to learn where our members’ hearts are when it comes to getting involved with public policy.

I have heard your concern, anger, frustration, and disbelief, with the current political environment in Texas. I have shared in your heartbreak, triumphs, and revelations during the 2023 Legislative Session, and the subsequent special sessions. I have seen your courage, determination, selflessness, and compassion as we worked together at the Capitol, over Zoom in Action Groups, and at various Texas Impact events, like United Women in Faith.

I have witnessed the power, influence, and impact people of faith have when we come together as one body. Advocating for justice within the public policy sphere is not always linear, and it’s never permanent because that’s the nature of democracy, but faith communities do have agency when we work together.

I’ve been excited this year to spearhead strengthening our individual membership program. I hope you’ll agree that our reconfigured membership levels are more distinct, and that they more clearly communicate the benefits of individual Texas Impact membership.

It is appropriate for people to be curious about ‘what you get’ when you join as a member of a nonprofit. When you join Texas Impact, what you get are real benefits  like access to relevant policy information  and the opportunities to meet with political power players…plus of course stickers to jazz up your laptop and communicate to the public where you stand on public policy issues.

I am excited to grow our membership during this season, and even more so I’m looking forward to watching our members’ courage and curiosity grow. To feel empowered to have uncomfortable conversations with people you might not agree with, to take initiative within your house of worship to examine what your faith traditions say about engaging with public policy, or to challenge yourself to regularly call your representatives about voting on and for policies that provide justice for all Texans—these are gifts that will benefit all of Texas.

Thank you for being a part of Texas Impact. Your membership matters!

Happy Fall Membership Drive everyone!

Yours in Faith,

Kat Karbach
