Texas Impact board members meet in Austin in September 2023

Texas Impact’s board comprises representatives from diverse faith traditions, some of whom serve as official representatives of governing bodies or interest groups within their traditions and others of whom serve in an individual, at-large capacity. The board structure was established in the 1970s using the Texas Conference of Churches model. The board structure has been updated occasionally to reflect our organization’s increasing religious diversity.

Most board members are representative of a Texas Impact member institution. Member institutions include judicatories (regional bodies of religious denominations); regional social action groups, which may be single-faith or interfaith; and regional interfaith alliances. In general, single-faith regional convening or governing bodies have two seats, and interfaith or social-issue interest groups have one seat. The board has 10 at-large seats. These seats are intended to help ensure diversity and inclusion on the board.

The board has 5 officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Past President. The officers are elected in September of odd-numbered years for 2-year terms beginning in January of even-numbered years. Officers may serve up to two consecutive terms. The executive committee includes the officers plus three additional members elected by the board from its membership.
