Collective Action
Congregations and other faith groups can help their members fulfill their civic engagement responsibilities. They also can serve the wider community by opening doors to civic participation. Congregations often shy away from “politics” because they fear losing their tax status or driving a wedge between members, but neither of these has to be the case. Faith communities perform important service when they empower people to use their voices in the public square.
