We respect differences in religious beliefs concerning abortion and oppose, in accord with the principle of religious liberty, any attempt to legislate a specific religious opinion or belief concerning abortion upon all Americans.

LGBTQ+ Rights

All of the denominational members of Texas Impact agree that civil government should provide equal protection in our laws, even if they still debate the specifics of their internal policies.

Vaccines

Across denominations, the world’s faith traditions support vaccinations because of three widely shared values:

  1. Respect for human life, and the imperative to preserve life
  2. Responsibility to prevent harm to vulnerable people such as children
  3. Responsibility to act for the public good
Maternal Mortality

There are clear opportunities to put the U.S. on par with other countries that have implemented policies to help reduce maternal deaths. These strategies include: ensuring all women have access to free or affordable primary care; comprehensive reproductive health care before, during, and after pregnancy; a maternal health care workforce mainly comprising midwives covered by insurance; and comprehensive postpartum support.

Inflation Reduction Act

The passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has changed the way households and congregations will pursue energy efficiency over the next ten years.

Vouchers

Reject vouchers and similar programs that use public education funds to subsidize private education.

Gun Violence

Following the mass shooting in Uvalde in 2022, national denominations and local congregations alike have recommitted to working to end gun violence.

Voting Rights

Voting is a matter of faith, citizenship and democracy. It is a kind of prayer and faithful testament to the belief that every citizen bears a responsibility and equal right to determine the future of governance in society.

Border Security

Texas should terminate Operation Lone Star in its entirety and reapply funds currently spent on it to the critical programs and services from which those funds have been extracted.

Medicaid Expansion

Texas should expand Medicaid under the terms of the Affordable Care Act.
