Weekly Witness had planned to kick off a series on public education policy for the month of June with a conversation on vouchers and charter schools, but current events intervened. We spend this week talking about the Uvalde school shooting, focusing on outsized connection between gun violence and public schools. Scott is joined by attorney Ellen Williams, who shares her perspective both as an advocate for public schools and a mother. On Josh’s Watchlist, he connects the primary results to the debate over gun legislation. Later in the program Beaman Floyd, our legislative guru, to talk about the tools we use and the conversations we have when we confront gun violence in America.
