Community Engagement Training for Compassionate Care and Support Post-Election 2024
Thursday, Sept. 26, 6:30-8PM • Saturday, Oct. 5, 1-2:30PM • Sunday, Oct. 6, 3-4:30PM
The day after an election often is marked by polarizing social media and nonstop commentary, which can raise the temperature in our communities. Congregations and other local organizations can help by providing space for their members and the wider community to share and process. Days-of-prayer; fellowship; drop-in counseling; and shared service are some of the ways to support community members as they deal with big feelings.
To help faith and other community leaders plan post-election activities, Texas Impact and the City of San Antonio’s Faith Based Initiative are offering three virtual training and orientation events. Facilitated by San Antonio Faith-Based Initiative Director Rev. Ann Helmke, each event will introduce participants to San Antonio’s compassion-equation model for community conversation and highlight downloadable resources. Participants will receive actionable information to help you plan for your congregation or group’s response.
Each training will include a breakout session where participants will converse in small groups. These breakouts will not be recorded, but Ann’s presentation will be available as a recording on Texas Impact’s YouTube channel.
Co-created by the City of San Antonio’s Faith Based Initiative, Compassionate San Antonio, CompassionateUSA, and Texas Impact.
