State Public Policy Offices (SPPOs) & ELCA Advocacy
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) works through a network of State Public Policy Offices (SPPOs) across the country to engage in faith-based advocacy on critical issues affecting our communities. These offices advocate for policies that reflect our Lutheran commitment to justice, peace, and care for our neighbors, ensuring that Lutheran voices are heard in state and national policy conversations.
Like the SPPOs in many states, Texas Impact is an interfaith organization. Our work with ELCA Lutherans strengthens our broader engagement with other denominations and faith traditions, creating a unified and impactful advocacy presence. ELCA Lutherans can feel confident that their advocacy is happening in concert with the efforts of people from a range of religious backgrounds, reinforcing our shared commitment to the common good.
SPPOs Across the Country
Each SPPO partners with the ELCA’s Washington, D.C. office to provide a Lutheran witness on public policy issues at the state level. These offices work on a variety of issues including economic justice, climate policy, immigration, and more, always centering faith-based values in their advocacy.
