WHO: Greater Houston area faith communities that want to put their faith into action by mobilizing members of their communities to live their values at the polls!
WHAT: Through this project, Texas Impact will provide microgrants and intensive staff support to congregations that commit to implementing specific election mobilization activities and appointing a clergy member and/or lay leader to participate in a facilitated, year-long cohort process with other faith leaders from the Greater Houston area. Selected faith communities will:
- Receive microgrants of up to $3,000 to undertake specific, measurable activities; Texas Impact will also provide voter mobilization and data-tracking tools and resources to cohort members.
- Appoint project leads who will participate in a civic leadership development cohort, which will work with a facilitator to build individual and collective understanding of the dynamics of congregational civic engagement leadership. The cohort will collaborate to create an assessment tool for congregations to measure their own civic engagement and see how civic engagement can advance a range of congregational goals.
WHEN: June through December 2024
