Since the first week of October, Texas Impact has collected nearly 4,000 letters signed by people of faith from across Texas telling their representatives they oppose a private school voucher program.
Texas Impact staff and volunteers are ensuring that every letter gets to its sender’s House representative so that voices of faith are heard loud and clear by legislators: Public dollars belong in public schools!
If you haven’t yet signed a letter and/or shared this important advocacy opportunity with your community, now is the time! The House of Representatives is expected to vote on HB 1 this Friday.
THIS IS THE MOMENT FOR ACTION. Our goal is to reach 5,000 letters opposing vouchers by Friday. Can you help us get there?
We want to give a special shout out to the ten faith communities that have contributed the greatest numbers of letters from congregants:
- Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, Houston
- Arapaho United Methodist Church, Richardson
- Bering Memorial United Church of Christ, Houston
- First Congregational Church, Houston
- Hamilton Park United Methodist Church, Dallas
- First United Methodist Church, Hurst
- Wilshire Baptist Church, Dallas
- Wellspring United Methodist Church, Georgetown
- First United Methodist Church, Denton
- Living Word Lutheran Church, Buda
Let’s keep up the pressure to protect Texas’ public schools!
