The Texas Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee’s biannual report was supposed to come out on September 1, but it’s been pushed back. Texans deserve that information as soon as possible.

Texas Impact is asking our members to take action today!

Email the committee to thank them for their work, let them know how critical it is to Texas families and to the providers who care for them, and urge them to release the report before December 1.

Email: MaternalHealth@dshs.texas.gov

Email Commissioner Imelda Garcia of the Department of State Health Services to ask when they expect the report to be released, why they asked the committee to revise it, and what needs to be done in the future to prevent this from happening with the next report.

DSHS commissioner is Imelda Garcia

Email: imelda.garcia@dshs.texas.gov

Call the House and Senate committees that will be responsible for passing any recommendations that come out of the report and ask if they plan to hold a hearing when the report is released

House Public Health Committee – (512) 463-0806

Senate Health and Human Services Committee – (512) 463-0360

Whatever you do, don’t forget to let us know how it went by emailing Kyle at kyle@texasimpact.org
