This week was the 39th annual United Women in Faith Texas Legislative Event. Hundreds of participants attended in-person and virtually, and despite the weather-related challenges we think it was one of the best Legislative Events yet. From Skye Perryman’s inspiring keynote address on Sunday night to the heartfelt conversation between Rep. Gary Van Deaver and Rep. Donna Howard about the state of our state, the event provided both high-level context and concrete steps for faithful engagement in the public square.

The theme of this year’s Legislative Event was Hope: Action & Accountability. Participants left the event ready to do hard work—in their congregations and neighborhoods, and in the halls of power. From turning out primary voters and strengthening human needs assistance to resisting Christian nationalism and protecting Texans from ICE, the women (and men) who attended the event committed their time and talent to working for a stronger Texas and a stronger democracy.
