An Ideal Legislative Visit!

The ladies with Rep. RoseOn Friday, June 20th, a group of five United Methodist Women from Lockhart UMC visited with Representative Patrick Rose and staff from Senator Glenn Hegar's office. Mary Fay Barnes, Betty Bowers, Doris Dorris, Doris Warner, and her granddaughter Tamra Warner all met with their representatives and expressed their interest in various issues affecting Texas, including the juvenile justice system and public education.

These ladies serve as an excellent example of how to have a successful visit with your legislator. Doris Warner said that it was "an interesting and rewarding experience," and added that she learned quite a bit during her visit. Discussing the issues She also said that Representative Rose and Senator Hegar's staff both welcomed them and were excited to hear their opinions.

Barbara Erickson, the Administrative Director for Senator Hegar, said it was clear that these women care about what happens in their district, and that their conversation was both "well-informed and spirited." She also said that it was wonderful to hear from people of faith about what matters most in the church. "It was the ideal legislative visit," remarked Erickson.
