On The Air: Radio Host and Texas Political Pundit Deece Eckstein interviews Bee Moorhead on "Texas Politics Today" 91.7 KOOP
Posted June 25th, 2008 by James Mason
Today's episode of TEXAS POLITICS TODAY will cover the most important state agency you've never heard of -- the Sunset Advisory Commission. Every two years, the Sunset Commission's staff and members examine an array of state agencies, boards and commissions to decide how well they're doing their job and if they should be continued. Their recommendations to the Legislature sometimes have far-reaching consequences.
This cycle, the commission is reviewing some of the most important and controversial state agencies, including the Texas Department of Transportation (home of the infamous Trans-Texas Corridor and run-amok toll roads), the Department of Public Safety, the Texas Youth Commission, the Department of Insurance and the Parks and Wildlife Department.
Our guest will be Bee Moorhead, the executive director of Texas Impact. Texas Impact is a faith-based organization that's worked on Sunset issues successfully in the past. This cycle, they have their sights trained on reforming Texas' private health insurance market.
TEXAS POLITICS TODAY airs every Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. CDT on KOOP, Austin's community radio station. KOOP is located at 91.7 on the FM dial and also streams live over the Internet at www.koop.org.
KOOP is Austin's community radio station, offering an eclectic variety of music, human interest, and news and public affairs programming. TEXAS POLITICS TODAY is produced by Deece Eckstein and co-hosted by DeeceX and David Kobierowski.
