05/22/2017 Action Alert: Do Not Concur with Senate Amendments to HB 21

Submitted by Sean Hennigan on Mon, 05/22/2017 - 11:26am

DO NOT CONCUR WITH THE SENATE AMENDMENTS TO HB 21 AND MAKE SURE VOUCHER AMENDMENT COMES OFF IN CONFERENCE

HB 21 by Huberty
The Senate attached vouchers to an otherwise good bill. The Senate is effectively saying any additional money for public education is contingent upon the House agreeing to vouchers which diverts money from public education to unaccountable private and parochial schools. Oppose unless school voucher amendment is removed.

Don’t forget to thank the staff member you are talking to at the end of the call, even if you disagree with their boss on the issue or bill—they are working hard and appreciate being appreciated!

In the past members have occasionally blocked our toll free number because of high call volume from people of faith. We want them to hear your voice, so if you call twice and received busy signals, email engagement@texasimpact.org and we will update the number.
