ACTION ALERT: U.S. Congressional leaders are moving swiftly to repeal large portions of the Affordable Care Act, jeopardizing health care for 20 million Americans...including nearly 3 million Texans. In response, the NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice is hosting a nationwide interfaith call in day on Monday, Jan. 9. Take action: Urge your U.S. senator to protect healthcare by voting NO on Affordable Care Act repeal!
As we begin the 115th Congress and a new presidential administration, we need to do all we can to protect healthcare as Congress attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Call your Senators now to protect healthcare. Call 1-888-897-9753. Tell them to vote NO on S.Con.Res.3.
The Trump campaign promised that no one who currently has coverage under the ACA would be without coverage under a new plan. The challenge: Just last week, Congressional Republicans took the first step in their plan to rush through a repeal of the ACA in a budget resolution, which would speed up the process of dismantling the ACA without proposing an alternative.
Republicans are using the budget process to dismantle the ACA by eliminating tax breaks, subsidies, and more. These changes would further increase our national debt, and it is a sneaky and irresponsible move by Congress to dismantle the economic structures that support the ACA.
This strategy is not acceptable for the millions of Americans who stand to lose coverage. It will spread fear in 20 million people who receive healthcare through the ACA and countless others who have benefitted from the ACA. Congress must ensure they have a viable plan in place to protect the lives of millions of people.
Call your Senators now to protect healthcare! Call 1-888-897-9753.
(Call twice to be connected to both of your Senators)
When you call, here’s what you might say:
“Hi, my name is [NAME], and I am a constituent from [CITY/TOWN]. As a person of faith, I believe that healthcare is a basic human right, and a core part of my faith’s teaching. Please tell the Senator that they should oppose any repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
Changes to healthcare should not happen unless there is a viable replacement to ensure millions of Americans continue to receive affordable, quality healthcare. This is a matter of life and death. Please vote NO on any legislation that includes repealing the Affordable Care Act without a suitable alternative in place. Vote NO on S.Con.Res.3.”
